DOESN'T TAKE A NEW YORK TIMES ROCKET SCIENTIST

No it doesn't! Take a New York Times rocket scientist to figure out that veterans make a team. I was surfing through the web to see what some gamers might be saying about the Chiefs and their performance against the Texans last night, and how they might critique head coach Todd Haley. Albeit a preseason game. It didn't take me long to stumble upon a story in the New York Times and I couldn't help but think, wow is this guy really a sports writer? I mean come on folks anybody who knows anybody that even watches NFL football knows that a team of young players isn't really going to go anywhere in this league. They may get talked about and they may shine at times but win the Superbowl? Not without some veterans on your team your not. And Haley did bring some vets in but is it enough? They didn't look to swell last night at a soggy Arrowhead Stadium but there was a few bright spots that need mentioning.

First of all, how about Mr. Irrelevant? Ryan Succop. The last player taken in the draft. He played like a veteran you might say, booting a 48 yarder. And Brodie Croyle didn't look half bad either completing 12 of 18 for 145 yards. Also Dwayne Bowe, who didn't see any action until Croyle came in the game, caught 5 passes for a total of 70 yards. Nobody had a better game I don't think than Dwayne Bowe. And with all the criticism that Haley has dished out about Bowe only Bowe appeared to know football last night. Way to go 'Bowe'!

Hopefully the veterans that were brought to the team can still play and not just set examples in training camp. Haley, who said he never stepped foot into the stadium prior to last nights game, said that he will take that loss as a first win anytime if the feeling of playing in, and coaching in that kind of atmosphere is the same. Well I got news for ya big guy, wait until the regular season and the Chiefs play their first home game. Then you will experience what it is like in the Red Sea. As there is no other stadium in the league that sounds and feels football way down deep in your blood than Arrowhead Stadium. So this may be your first year, this may be some of the young rookies first year, don't make it your last. Arrowhead is all about football.
