It's Lonely at the Top KU Falls to K State Rivalry

It took less than 12hrs for the latest number #1 ranked team in the country to fall to the persistent push of Jacob Pullen from the Kansas State team who beat up on the Jayhawks in an overnight clash in Bramlage Coliseum.

Oh and how he did pull it off nearly doing so by himself. Even as a Midwestern hometown fan like myself I got a very bad feeling when they ranked KU as the number one team in the nation. It never fails it seems that they last very long on top for any length of time as of late.

Is there really a true number one this season though? Ohio State, Texas, Duke, Pittsburgh and yes of course Kansas all deserve to be ranked number one. But is it only a number. Personally I think the only purpose it seems to serve is motivation for the other team to get pumped up and then it's lights out on any given night when your ranked at the top.

You have to give the likes of KState credit though, they were relentless and their defense had KU in shambles most all of the game. They never let up and played like a team on a very big mission. And true that they are because if they would have lost it would have been adios come NCAA tournament time with the selection committee. I don't think they had a chance in hell to make the the 68 team heading into March Madness. NIT would have and still may be a better fit for them.
