The Miami Heat

This guest post from Margaret Mills

The Miami Heat have been the talk of the summer. This is for a very simple and obvious reason, as they have added a major piece to their championship puzzle. That's right, I am talking about Joel Anthony, the shot blocking and rebounding presence who will anchor this team's stunning defense. Anthony will be tasked with stopping the other team's elite big men, from Dwight Howard to Pau Gasol. Without Joel Anthony, the Miami Heat would be just another lottery team, begging other NBA teams for wins before ultimately being contracted for their failures.

However, the addition of Joel Anthony by mastermind Pat Riley swings the balance of power to the Miami Heat. Now every expert, prognosticator and casual fan has jumped on the Miami Heat bandwagon. People from Fort Lauderdale to South Beach are lining up to buy season tickets, donning black number 50 jerseys and their mouths well with saliva.

My mouth is wet and frothing with spit bubbles too, as I imagine Anthony blocking shots and defending the paint, compensating for the Miami Heat's inferior perimeter players. While some point to the acquisition of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh as key, most basketball insiders know that those players are but paltry supplemental pieces compared to the monster in the paint, Joel Anthony. I know this because I watched every Miami Heat preseason game thanks to my TVBYDIRECT.
