Say it ain't so!
Today Brett Favre retires. Telling teammates the wear and tear on his body has taken a toll. When plenty of players call it quits (especially Quarterbacks) after 10 or 12 seasons, Favre lasted 19.
According to ESPN-- The 40-year-old Favre has been working out at his home in Hattiesburg, Miss., still rehabbing a surgically repaired ankle that was injured in Minnesota's overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC title game. He has yet to inform the team if he will honor the second year of his contract and come back for another run at the Super Bowl.
Reports are that he has texted teammates and informed them of his decision, stating "this is it". Last year he did the same thing prior to training camp but did return so nothing appears ever final with Favre. However this really feels like he's comfortable with his decision. At least he's listening to his body and not his mind as I am certain he would love to play another and another year.
Let's not talk about all the records he's set. Too many to mention but fans know he's the man when it comes to the quarterback position and records.
Brett it's been so much fun watching you play. You've brought so much excitement to the game in the past 19 years that even the most resentful Green Bay or Viking fan still, whether they admit it or not, has much admiration for your accomplishments. I've never been a Packer fan nor a Viking fan but I'll always be a Favre Fan. Thanks for the memories!
