Larry Johnson Released By Chiefs After Derogatory Tweets
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was released today after a series of on and off field problems. His latest incident was his infamous tweets to which he used a gay slur to describe God knows who. However some certainly believe that the comments were directed at Head Coach Todd Haley and his problems with the system that the new coach maintains. No matter who his comments were directed towards, he's gone. No longer a Kansas City Chief and no longer able to break former running back Priest Holmes' record for total rushing yards. Johnson needed only 75 yards to break the record for total yards gained in a career with by a Chief running back. Many fans had a petition going online for the team to release Johnson so that he could not break the record.
Will any team pick him up? Probably not before the next 24 hours so they don't have to pay his total salary due for the remainder of the season. However it seems likely that a contender will take a chance and sign him. He is, or has been at times a great running back and should make some team a back up or starter at the position. I am a diehard fan and I liked Larry Johnson. I do not think that he adjusted well to all the changes the team has gone through with new coaches and systems since he's been on the roster as a rookie. Having said that, a lot of players have fared much better, but some people as individuals just don't handle change the same or know how to adjust to such changes. I say good luck LJ! I hope Haley is the next Chief to be discharged. I don't like him and don't think he knows how to coach. Prove me wrong I hope because I'd like to see the Chiefs back in contention.
