New York Times Says Paulus Comes Home

I really enjoyed reading this story this morning in the New York Times about Greg Paulus, former standout guard for the Duke Blue Devils basketball team. After having completed his eligibility requirements for the Blue Devils and in doing so in fashion on one of the nations perennial teams, Paulus returns home to Syracuse to play College Football. Even though he hasn't been on the field since his high school days he has been named the starter at the all important position of Quarterback. It should be noted however, that the school is under some controversy over the hiring of new coach Doug Marrone. He has been accused of weeding out players and is way under the scholarship limit allowed by the NCAA. With Paulus they may not get a seasoned football player, but they will get a young man who is used to pressure having played at a well respected basketball college in Duke University. An assistant at Duke says, "Greg is a natural born leader. I could imagine him getting in a football huddle and having his teammates' respect instantly. He's a gifted kid and a winner."
