Rambis to Coach T-Wolves

Kurt Rambis will replace Kevin McHale as the new coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has been a part of the Lakers organization for the past 7 seasons and is a former Laker himself. Rambis is a 51 yr. old with limited experience as a head coach. He filled on for Phil Jackson, when Jackson was away for medical reasons and was the talk as possible replacement for the L.A. head coach if he was to leave soon. Phil states that Kurt was the workhorse of the team for the past few years.
Rambis will take over for McHale who he played against on several occasions while an active player in the NBA. He has been involved in several championships, winning four titles as a Laker in the 1980's and 2 more as an assistant coach, most recently as last year when the Lakers beat the Magic.
The director of the T-wolves' player operations, David Kahn, says that it was one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make. He wants McHale to mold the young players into the team and his experience in doing just that made his decision easier. He says of McHale, "His reputation around the league is that he is a wonderful teacher who is hands on the court, and one who understands that part of our business and will really energize it."
