For the South African track star the question is, is she a male or female? Or I should say for the governing body of IAAF. There seems to be a big question mark on whether South African teenager Caster Semenya is more male than female. Her deep voice, powerful style, and physique have raised some questions. Enough so that a body of medical experts, (who knew it would take so many) including a gynecologist, a psychologist, endocrinologist, a gender expert, and an internal medicine specialist will all do an examination to determine the outcome. Look up ambiguous genitalia and you will see that it is a very complex issue among the medical profession and can be upsetting and confusing to most parents involved in such an issue. I hope that for her that it does not destroy her image as a great athlete and track star. The IAAF rules state that a competitors must be entirely female to compete in women's races but some people are born with a mixture of chromosomes and display both male and female characteristics.
