Wildcat Formation....what it is...?

While doing a search of the new phrase in NFL football, more specifically "wildcat", I came upon one definition, hike the ball to the running back. OK , two definitions. The other is "gimmick." Remember the phrase that so long lasted,"West Coast Offense?" Well we have a new one now called the Wildcat formation. Leave out the formation and just say wildcat. Wildcat, Wildcat, OK stop. Like who needs a wildcat formation? Evidently a team with no quaterback. Some say that's what actually coined the phrase. Others say don't be so quick to judge a team running the wildcat just because they don't have a quarterback, because you might begin to see it on more teams than you think. Michael Vick will surely see some wildcat formations with the Philidelphia Eagles this year. Head coach Andy Reid calls it a "good wrinkle" but said, "to say that I've added to it since we signed him? I would have to say, no,." Don't expect it to just be about the run anymore as I think we will see it turn into a lot more passing plays. But then again how much can you fool a defense by putting both Michael Vick and Donavan McNabb in the backfield at the same time? Still more questions about the gimmick. I'm all for it.
